A gluten-free diet is a diet that excludes gluten, a protein composite found in wheat and related grains. Gluten causes health problems in sufferers of celiac diseace (CD) and some cases of wheat allergy. For those diagnosed with celiac disease, a strict gluten-free diet constitutes the only effective treatment to date.
Gluten, which gives bread, pizza dough and other starchy foods their chewiness, is one of the most beloved proteins in the world. But it’s also quickly becoming one of the most feared — at least here in the United States. An estimated 20 million Americans believe that eating it causes them distress. And 100 million people, meanwhile, say that they are actively working to eliminate gluten from their diet.
With that said, SweetStacks is in the process of converting our gourmet products (which all consist of flour) to Gluten-free products. We would like all of our customers to be able to enjoy our products without concerns over their health.
We have been diligently working with our Food Technologist to convert our original gourmet pancake mix to become a gluten-free product. We are happy and thrilled with the first round of taste testing of our gluten-free gourmet pancake mix!!
